VOICES OF THE ANCESTORS
Connecting the youth to the past with one narrative, one interview and one interactive experience at a time.
Do you like to perform in front of an audience? Are you interested in the theatre production process? If so, join us and learn about the rich culture and history in the African American community through theatre. We will explore the production process from the idea to the research and then from the page to the stage. We will attend a performance, interview seniors in our community and create original vignettes to perform for the community. Sound like a lot? You’re right! But there’s so much more! This new program, Voices of the Ancestors, will focus on stories from the past and stories that we will gather from local community members. We will start in August with a culmination performance in November. The program will be facilitated by Mojoaa Performing Arts Company.
The Program will be held at John Chavis and Ralph Campbell Community Centers.
Workshops will be held on Saturdays:
10:00-11:30AM @ John Chavis Community Center 505 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Raleigh, NC 27601
